The review Committee will look for all sections to be addressed. We encourage a concise submission that covers the following:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of the Short Term course<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intellectual goals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pedagogical format<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of faculty familiarity with the destination and existing local connections.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How students are evaluated<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Safety and security assessment of the location\/s and related considerations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staffing plan, including on-site partnership information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student selection criteria<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student recruitment strategy, with specific focus on attracting a diverse student group<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Itinerary<\/strong>: \u00a0a tentative day-to-day itinerary for the time off-campus, including proposed dates, destinations, instructional and\/or research activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Budget proposal<\/b>: please submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/17QZp4H5llgGKb_9mmJrqR7C75V02pRUL-hfHun-DvEI\/edit?usp=sharing\"><strong>Short Term Off-Campus Budget Worksheet<\/strong><\/a> used to generate your proposed budget.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Syllabus Draft<\/strong>: include a draft course syllabus<\/li>\n<li><strong>Approvals<\/strong>: please obtain the necessary signatures on the <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/global-education\/files\/2022\/11\/Short-Term-Off-Campus-Course-Approvals.pdf\">Short-Term-Off-Campus-Course-Approvals<\/a><b>.<\/b> Please plan for these meetings in advance of the deadline. These are intended to help you shape your proposal.\n<ul>\n<li>While not required, it is highly recommended that proposers meet with a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/center-inclusive-teaching-learning\/\">CITL<\/a> team to discuss and review your proposal. In particular in crafting the learning objects as they relate to the location of the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curriculum Review Committee <em>(if needed)<\/em> proposal<\/strong>. All new (first-time) courses must also be submitted to the CRC following their processes. We suggest that this be done at the time of initial proposal. More information available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/registrar\/faculty\/planning-a-course-4\/\">Registrar&#8217;s Office website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We expect to be able to run 4 to 5 off-campus short terms depending on the available budget and costs associated with proposals. During the period from planning, proposing, and implementing, there may be changes in international travel, financial considerations, and safety concerns. Bates College has the right to cancel any off-campus short term course at any time.
