{"id":1837,"date":"2021-04-08T15:07:16","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T19:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/grants\/?page_id=1837"},"modified":"2026-02-05T16:14:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T21:14:34","slug":"extra-service-pay","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/grants\/compliance-resources\/extra-service-pay\/","title":{"rendered":"Extra Service Pay"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extra&nbsp;Service&nbsp;Pay\/Supplemental Compensation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Extra&nbsp;service&nbsp;pay for Bates employees is allowable as part of federal grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements only when it is 1)outside of the employee\u2019s regular work duties, 2)complies with the Human Resources (HR) policy&nbsp;<strong>Hiring Employees Into a Second Position<\/strong>&nbsp;(see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/reference\/employee-handbook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employee Handbook<\/a>), and&nbsp; 3)adheres to the Federal Uniform Guidance regulations (see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/cgi-bin\/text-idx?SID=7e6723b6a4cd24000f28020757fdff79&amp;mc=true&amp;node=se2.1.200_1430&amp;rgn=div8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2 CFR&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/cgi-bin\/text-idx?SID=7e6723b6a4cd24000f28020757fdff79&amp;mc=true&amp;node=se2.1.200_1430&amp;rgn=div8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">200.430(h)(4)<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before Extra Service Pay can be issued, it\u00a0must be approved by the employee&#8217;s immediate\u00a0supervisor, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), Human Resources, and the Dean of the Faculty as meeting both Sponsor requirements and Bates College policy.
