Class of 2024 Programming
We are excited to work with members of the Class of 2024 to offer class-specific programming in the upcoming academic year. We recognize that it was difficult for many students in the Class of 2024 to build community and connection last academic year while following public health guidelines to keep the community safe. This year, the Harward Center is collaborating with partners in Campus Life, Residence Life, and the Multifaith Chaplaincy to support the class of 2024 in building community at Bates and connecting with the broader Lewiston area.
Off-Campus Community Engagement
The Harward Center for Community Partnerships will offer the opportunities below for the Class of 2024 to get to know and plug into the local off-campus community, their home away from home during college:
- Student-led walking tours of downtown Lewiston, highlighting public art, local businesses, restaurants, and art galleries, as well as specific ways that Class of 2024 students can get involved in community initiatives such as Art Walk LA and the Growing Our Tree Streets transformation plan;
- Local history tours of Lewiston-Auburn led by historian and Harward Center staff member Sam Boss;
- A Volunteer Fair where off-campus organizations such as Tree Street Youth, ArtVan, the Immigrant Resource Center of Maine, and Lots to Gardens come to campus to share their work with students and invite them to get involved in projects that take local aim at global challenges;
- Upperclass students who serve as Community Outreach Fellows and help Class of 2024 students connect to off-campus events and opportunities.
