Regardless if you’d like to register in your home state or in Maine, there’s one simple tool to help you navigate how to register to vote.  Since Maine now has online voter registration, it is super easy for students update their registration so they can vote at their new campus residence! There are many ways to register and engage in this upcoming election cycle. Here are some key dates to keep in mind if you intend to vote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, October 7 <\/td>In Person Absentee Voting<\/a> at City Hall Begins<\/td><\/tr>
Tuesday, October 14<\/td>Deadline for Voter Registration<\/a> (Online or Mail)<\/td><\/tr>
Tuesday, October 28<\/td>Early Vote Day & Extended Voting Hours at City Hall <\/td><\/tr>
Thursday, October 30<\/td>Deadline for In-Person Voter Registration and Absentee Voting<\/a> at City Hall <\/td><\/tr>

Early Voting and Absentee Voting<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

  • Any registered voter may cast an absentee ballot instead of voting in person at the voting place.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • You do not need to have a specific reason or be unable to vote at the voting place on Election Day to use an absentee ballot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    What to Bring When Voting<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

    While a photo ID is not required<\/span> for voting in Maine, we always encourage students to carry their\u00a0Bates ID<\/strong>. Students residing on campus will need to demonstrate proof of Maine residency by showing the Election Clerk your\u00a0Voter Registration Badge<\/strong>\u00a0(found on Garnet Gateway).\u00a0 Please find the Voter Registration Badge using the instructions below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    *For off-campus students, please bring your Bates ID and a piece of mail (such as a bill or utility) that was sent to your residential address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When you are logged into Garnet Gateway<\/strong>, look at the sidebar menu for Account & Access<\/strong> and click the \u201cVoter Registration\u201d link.<\/td>\"photo<\/td><\/tr>
    Your\u00a0Voter Registration Badge<\/strong>\u00a0will show up that discloses your chosen name, your legal name, and your physical street address on campus, along with your dorm.\u00a0 You will show this to your local elections clerk if you register to vote. If you are already registered, you will be asked to give your name and physical street address.<\/td>\"photo<\/td><\/tr>
