Greetings from the Harward Center, where we are thrilled to announce that two Bates student projects have been awarded grant funding by the Davis Projects for Peace committee for summer of 2026. Angel Guitcha \u201927 and Vyshu Viju \u201826 will embark on their projects in Ghana and India, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n

Projects for Peace is an initiative inspired by the late Kathryn W. Davis, an accomplished internationalist and philanthropist. Upon the occasion of her 100th birthday in February of 2007, Mrs. Davis, mother of Shelby M.C. Davis, who funds the Davis UWC Scholars Program, chose to celebrate by committing $1 million to fund the first one hundred Projects for Peace. To date, more than two thousand projects have been implemented through this legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are happy to uplift this recent Bates News story by our Bates Communications Office Staff Writer, Alexandra DeMarco, which provides details about this summer\u2019s projects, as well as the project completed last year by Projects for Peace grant awardee, Axelle Tougouma \u201927.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
