Born and raised in India, Nupur moved to Canada with her family as a teenager. Back then, she wanted to be an architect or an engineer; a summer of tending to her ailing grandmother changed her perspective and outlook on life. She decided to pursue a career in caregiving, first at the University of Toronto and then at the American University of Antigua, College of Medicine. During her undergraduate years Nurpur worked with disadvantaged high school students as a mentor and volunteered at one of Toronto’s biggest hospitals. These experiences awoke her to the gaps in the health system and reinforced her commitment to serving disadvantaged communities. Nupur’s interests outside of medicine include travel, painting, architecture, and interior design.
