Bates has an established relationship with Central Maine Medical Center to provide expertise and care for students. CMMC is a recognized health care leader in Western and Central Maine, giving Bates students 24\/7 access to complete medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have an urgent medical question or concern after hours,  you will have the option to speak to the physician on-call at CMMC<\/strong>. To access the physician on-call, call BHS at 207-786-6199<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Health Services is closed, you will receive the voicemail message indicating that BHS is closed, with instructions on how to connect with the physician on-call. Follow this prompt. You will then speak with an answering service. When you begin speaking with the answering service, ask for the Family Medicine Residency Clinic and note that Dr. Picard is the primary care provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medical Care During School Breaks<\/h3>

The partnership between CMMC and BHS is an essential connection to high-quality medical care. Staff in these areas will be relied upon to support the medical needs of our campus community during school breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health Services is closed during school breaks, such as the Thanksgiving Recess, Winter Recess between Fall and Winter semesters, the February Recess, and the Summer Recess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To access medical care during breaks, students will be referred to the Central Maine Family Medical Residency<\/a> at 76 High Street. Appointments can be made by calling 207-795-2800<\/strong>. Dr. Picard is listed as the Primary Care Provider for many Bates students. Many of the physicians at BHS, Jess Segar (RN), Kelly Ducas (MA), and Allison Ceprano (PSR) will be at the Residency Clinic for continuity of care. Your insurance will be billed for medical care visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you or a friend are experiencing a mental health emergency you can reach a licensed counselor after hours. The counselor will be able to talk you through steps to help your friend or help yourself. To access the counselor on-call, call CAPS at 207-786-6200 and dial 0.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transportation Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While many students have a personal vehicle on-campus, there remain many students who do not have access to their own personal vehicle or that of a friend. While the CMMC Emergency Department is proximate to campus, we recognize that students may need access to transportation to get to and from local facilities. There are number of transportation options available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bobcat Express Reservation Request Form<\/strong><\/a> is intended for Doctor\u2019s and Medical Appointments, Prescription Pick-up, and appointments only. <\/strong>The Bobcat Shuttle runs Monday through Friday 10 p.m. \u2013 6:00 p.m. Please make your appointments during these times. If an appointment is needed outside of this time frame, we will try our best to accommodate you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weekends<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bobcat Express will transport students for medical care any time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. To request a ride for medical care, call 207-786-6254<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a serious injury or emergency that requires immediate transportation, call security at (207) 786-6111. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Returning to Campus from a Local Hospital<\/h3>

If you are transported to the Emergency Room by United Ambulance, Bates College Campus Safety can provide an escort from the hospital when you are discharged.  You can reach Campus Safety at 207-786-6254.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Shuttle Schedule<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>

The Lewiston-Auburn Shuttle departs from 56 Campus Ave, next to Chase Hall, Thursday through Sunday evenings. As a special service upon request, the Shuttle driver will take students to and from Central Maine Medical Center <\/a>and B Street Health Center.<\/a> The driver will only go to these locations if requested, so if you are headed there be sure to let the driver know.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
