How do I setup Bates Gmail on my iPhone/iPad?

Configuring your iOS Device to Connect to Bates Gmail:

  • Tap on Settings
  • From the Settings window, scroll down and tap on Accounts & Passwords 
  • Tap on Add Account
  • Tap on Google
    • At the Google Sign In window, sign in using your full Bates email address (username@bates.edu)

  • Tap on Next
  • You will now be redirected to the Federated Authentication Service login page
    • Enter your Bates Username and Password (not email address), then tap on Login

  • Tap on Save (upper right)
  • From the Accounts screen, Tap on Fetch New Data
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and Tap on Every 30 Minutes to schedule the frequency for retrieving your email messages

  • Tap on < Accounts to return to the account screen
  • Tap on your newly created account  (Gmail) under the Accounts section 
  • Tap on Account (with your Bates email address)
    • Verify your Name
    • Verify your Email address
    • Update the Description to Bates Gmail

  • Tap on Advanced
    • Under the Move Discarded Messages Into section, Tap on Deleted Mailbox
    • Tap on < Accounts
    • Tap on Done
    • Tap on < Accounts
    • Tap on < Settings

  • Tap on < Mail
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see the Composing section
    • Tap on Default Account and select your default account
    • Tap on < Mail
    • Tap on < Settings

  • Scroll Down and tap on Contacts
    • Tap on Default Account
    • Choose your Default Contacts Account
    • Tap on < Contacts
    • Tap on < Settings

  • Tap on Calendar
    • Tap on Default Calendar
    • Choose your Default Calendar
    • Tap on < Contacts
    • Tap on < Settings

  • Press your Home Button to return to your Home Screen
