What is Zoom and how do I create an account?

Zoom is a video conferencing and webinar tool available to current members of the Bates College Community to provide a simple to use cloud-based web, video conference, and webinar solution. With Zoom, you can have a video meeting or webinar directly from your computer, mobile device, or an on-campus Zoom Configured Classroom.

Zoom Professional Accounts Provide the Following Features:

  • Minimum of 10 Hosts
  • Unlimited Meeting Duration for all Meeting Sizes
  • Host up to 300 Participants
  • Access to All of Zoom’s Professional Account Features
  • Available for All Current Faculty, Students, and Staff
  • Unlimited Number of Meetings
  • Unlimited Meeting Duration for One-to-One Meetings
  • Record Meetings to the Zoom Video Cloud

To utilize a Zoom Professional Account, login to https://bates.zoom.us/ with your Bates Network Username and Password to get started and create your Zoom Professional Account.

  • Up to 100 Live Hosts, Co-Hosts, Panelists, and Attendees
  • Unlimited Webinar Duration
  • Unlimited Number of Webinars
  • HD Video and Premium Audio
  • Practice Session
  • Host Controls
  • Polling
  • Q&A Dialog Box
  • Attendee Raise Hand Option
  • Record Meetings to the Zoom Video Cloud
  • Reporting

Bates College has one Zoom Webinar Account capable of Hosting up to 100 total Individuals. To utilize our Zoom Webinar Account, please contact the IT Help Desk with your request.
