{"id":247,"date":"2020-08-13T15:28:24","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T19:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/?page_id=247"},"modified":"2024-08-01T12:21:38","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T16:21:38","slug":"summary-of-rights","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/summary-of-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Summary of Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary of Rights<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All members of the Bates community have the right to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Live, work, and learn at Bates free from bias, harassment, and discrimination;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be treated with respect, dignity, and fairness;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have their privacy protected by all individuals involved in the investigation and resolution of any report of discrimination or harassment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File a report and have any report resolved promptly, fairly and thoroughly according to the Bates College Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination, and Anti-Harassment Policy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive supportive measures to help them continue to access their education; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be free from retaliation for making a report or participating in the Resolution Process;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive timely notice of meetings and equal access to information used in those meetings;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have an advisor or support person present at meetings;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive timely written notification of the outcome of any investigation, including sanctions, any changes to the outcome due to appeal, and when the outcome becomes final; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present evidence, suggest witnesses and questions for those witnesses, and review and respond to all relevant evidence prior to a determination being rendered;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appeal dismissal decisions, the finding, and outcome on limited grounds as detailed in the Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination, and Anti-Harassment Policy.; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive amnesty for minor drug and alcohol violations that occurred at the time of the incident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, a Complainant has the right to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose whether to file a criminal complaint with local law enforcement and to receive assistance should they wish to do so;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request a campus No Contact Order or seek a court-issued Order of Protection; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose whether they wish to participate in any resolution process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals have these rights regardless of whether they participate in a Formal Resolution process and regardless of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected class.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summary of Rights All members of the Bates community have the right&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":466,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_hide_ai_chatbot":false,"_ai_chatbot_style":"","associated_faculty":[],"_Page_Specific_Css":"","_bates_restrict_mod":false,"_table_of_contents_display":false,"_table_of_contents_location":"","_table_of_contents_disableSticky":false,"_is_featured":false,"footnotes":"","_bates_seo_meta_description":"","_bates_seo_block_robots":false,"_bates_seo_sharing_image_id":0,"_bates_seo_sharing_image_twitter_id":0,"_bates_seo_share_title":"","_bates_seo_canonical_overwrite":"","_bates_seo_twitter_template":""},"class_list":["post-247","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","with-sidebar"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/247","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/466"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=247"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/247\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1130,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/247\/revisions\/1130"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/here-to-help\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=247"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
