So whether it is related to school, life, extracurriculars/social life at Bates, or just random, I am here for it. I hope to be a friend you can trust and come to whenever you feel alone, lost or confused. But, most importantly, I want you to feel supported and comfortable. Much love.

I spent my first year in Clason and really like this community of diverse cultures, so I decide to stay here as a JA this year. Last year, I lived in Frye House and fell in love with the unique shared living experience of a first-year house. As a JA this year, I hope to make Clason a place where students feel free to unapologetically be themselves as they navigate their first year at Bates. Looking forward to September!
Maria McEvoy, ’25 (Frye House)
Hi all! I’m Maria! I’m a sophomore from Montana and I use she/her/hers pronouns. I am still undecided about what my major will be, and I am just having fun taking interesting classes so far. In my free time I like to fly-fish, backpack, climb things (trees and hills mostly, but I am working my way up to rocks), romp around, and generally get my hands dirty! I am so excited to meet all of you & am looking forward to a great year! 🙂
Shriver Hansen, ’25 (Frye House)
Hi! My name is Shriver, and I’m very excited to welcome you to Bates! I’m a sophomore and am planning a double major in Biology and Classical & Medieval Studies. I’m looking forward to living in Frye House this year. When not engaging in organizing and activism on-and-off campus, you can find me in quiet study spaces like The Ronj (our student-run coffee shop) and listening to music. Despite being from the large (southern) city of Dallas, I love the weather in Lewiston, our beautiful campus, and walking through Thorncrag Bird Sanctuary. Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Rylee Eaton, ’25 (Milliken House)
Hi everyone! My name is Rylee Eaton and I’m from Deer Isle, Maine — a small island about 3 hours north of campus. I haven’t yet declared a major, but I’m pretty sure I want to major in chemistry and minor in math. Some of my favorite things about Bates include the third-floor lounge of Bonney, banana chocolate chip muffins from Commons, and the couches in the OIE. I can’t wait to meet you all and have a fantastic year together!!
