Medical & Dental
Your Aetna Navigator Account allows you to:
- View your claims and explanation of benefits
- order ID cards
- look for a doctor
- see cost estimates for common services, tests and procedures
- access your Health Savings account (if applicable)
You are first eligible for the medical and dental plan on the first of the month following one full calendar month of employment. After you enroll, you may not make a change to your elections until the next annual enrollment period unless you have a qualified change in family status (see the employee handbook for more information on life status changes).
In 2015, Bates offered two medical insurance plan options:
The Aetna PPO Plan is a traditional co-pay style medical plan with hospital services subject to a deductible and cost sharing.
The Aetna Consumer Choice (HSA) Plan is a plan that couples a high deductible health plan with a tax advantaged Health Savings Account.

Bates offers one Dental Plan through Aetna. The dental plan helps pay for preventive exams and cleanings, basic services such as fillings and root canals and major services such as crowns or dentures.
You may review all of your benefit elections by viewing your Benefits Statement under the Employee Tab on the Garnet Gateway.
