contributions towards maximizing our student&#8217;s experience at Bates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Human Resource Department provides support to the campus in the following functional areas:<br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/benefits\/\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong>:<\/a> support and processing for medical, dental, retirement, worker\u2019s compensation and various additional benefits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Classification and Compensation<\/strong>: salary reviews, job descriptions and additional research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/reference\/ombuds\/\"><strong>Employee Relations<\/strong>:<\/a>&nbsp;support and advice regarding employee concerns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/employment\"><strong>Employment<\/strong>:<\/a> guidance in the hiring and selection of new employees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/environmental-health-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Environmental, Health and Safety<\/strong><\/a>: safety consults and training from ergonomics to hazardous waste remediation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/payroll\/\"><strong>Payroll<\/strong>:<\/a>&nbsp;support for and processing of bi-weekly and monthly staff payroll<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/performance-development\/\"><strong>Performance Development<\/strong>:<\/a> support for the Performance Development process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/hr\/employee-development-training\/\">Training<\/a><\/strong>: evaluation of the need for and development of staff training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/b-well\/\"><strong>Wellness<\/strong>:<\/a> resources and support to employees in each stage of their journey towards better health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guiding Principles:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Treat every individual with dignity and respect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain a positive outlook and promote trust in all of our relationships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply all policies and procedures consistently and fairly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep all employment matters in the strictest confidence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain the highest ethical standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make the best use of financial resources for the College\u2019s benefit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Constantly review and improve operations to ensure we are providing&nbsp;
