Golf, kayaking, and skiing fill the extra time.&#8221;&#8230; As reported in the <em>Shore Line Times<\/em>, <strong>Lou Milardo<\/strong>, head softball coach at Nathan Hale-Ray High School in Connecticut, was named a coach of the year by one of the state&#8217;s sportswriters groups. Lou&#8217;s teams have won four state Class S championships and eight conference championships, have appeared in eight state title games, and have appeared in the last five consecutive championship games. The honor is another in a long list: Lou has twice been selected Shoreline Conference Coach of the Year (2001, 2004), was the Connecticut High School Coaches Assn. Softball Coach of the Year (1999), a National High School Coach of the Year finalist in 2002, and is a member of the Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame and Nathan Hale-Ray High School&#8217;s Hall of Fame. Lou was also a longtime mathematics teacher at Hale-Ray.
