{"id":800,"date":"2010-04-21T16:12:01","date_gmt":"2010-04-21T16:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hub-dev.bates.edu\/magazine\/?page_id=800"},"modified":"2017-09-06T11:38:48","modified_gmt":"2017-09-06T15:38:48","slug":"imaging-center-opens","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/magazine\/back-issues\/y2007\/spring07\/quad-angles\/imaging-center-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Imaging Center Opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A one-stop shop for the high-tech handling of visual information, the Imaging and Computing Center opened in mid-January.<\/p>\n<p>Occupying the first floor of Coram Library, the center expands the ways students and faculty can exercise their visual presentation skills, which have become as much the scientist&rsquo;s preserve as the artist&rsquo;s. Its research microscopes, digital photography studio, high-powered computing center, and other appointments enable users to capture, interpret, and present all manner of information visually.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"282\" hspace=\"2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/Images\/Bates_Magazine\/spring07\/main\/Imaging0055-WEB.jpg\" width=\"400\" align=\"middle\" vspace=\"2\" border=\"0\"><br \/>\n<strong>Felice Frankel (right), an expert in the use of imaging to express scientific data and concepts, meets with Associate Professor of Biology Nancy Kleckner and Kleckner&#8217;s thesis student Neil Marya &#8217;07 in the new Imaging and Computer Center. They are working with one of the center&#8217;s new microscopes to view Marya&#8217;s thesis work in neuroscience.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re finding new ways of articulating knowledge,&rdquo; says Pam Baker &#8217;70,&nbsp;Helen A.
