Shoshannah White, Night Tree, 2015

The Museum will host a discussion with photographers Jay Gould, Cary Green and Shoshannah White.

The photographers are featured in the museum’s exhibition “Points of View,” a contemporary photography exhibit depicting elements of the Maine landscape from varied levels of scale, from great distance to close-up.

The artists giving the talk will present images of things that are difficult to see. Gould explores hidden realities theorized by cutting-edge science, while Green’s photographs focus on landscapes, created by suburban sprawl, that are easily overlooked due to their mundane nature. Many of White’s images are of microscopic or subterranean structures of native plants.

Also represented in the exhibit is photographer David Maisel of Marin, Calif., whose aerial photographs explore humanity’s radical interventions with nature.

There will be a reception at 5 p.m., prior to the discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
