January 23 – March 18, 2012
Born in Guangdong, China, Xiaoze Xie is one of the most prominent of China’s contemporary artists. His expressive paintings of stacked newspapers, decaying books, and media images explore the tenuousness of history and memory. This exhibition presents work from each series of his paintings, plus installation, video photography, and video. He is Paul L. & Phyllis Wattis Professor in Art at Stanford University.
