Please join us for a lecture with Ashleigh Coren, \u201907, Head of Education for the American Women\u2019s History Initiative, Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum. In her role, she develops and assists with research projects that focus on the history of women in portraiture.\u00a0 She creates public programs related to the collections and exhibitions that focus on female artists and portrait subjects. As a curator of education and public programs, Coren works with the public, educators, and other museum professionals to connect audiences with the stories of women in American history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Note: Participants will use inquiry based strategies to engage with museum objects which may cause discomfort.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Coren has a B.A. in Art and Visual Culture from Bates College, and an M.S. in Archives Management from Simmons University. Through University of Maryland’s College of Information Studies, Coren has taught online graduate Special Collections and Survey of Young Adult Literature courses.
