David Maisel, The Forest_#5<\/p><\/div>\n

In his ongoing, multi-chaptered series Black Maps<\/em>, David Maisel\u2019s aerial photographs of environmentally impacted sites explore the aesthetics and politics of radically human-altered environments, open pit mines, clear-cut forests, and zones of water reclamation, framing the issues of contemporary landscape with equal measures of documentation and metaphor. Maisel\u2019s surreal and disquieting images take the viewer toward the margins of the unknown, and posit an expanded definition of contemporary landscape. Maisel’s The Forrest Series<\/em> is included in the current exhibition Points of View<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
