While she was born in Pennsylvania, she traveled widely during her life, studying in Paris under Jean-L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me, \u00c9douard Fr\u00e8re, and Paul Soyer during her early years as an artist. A personal invitation from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/museum\/exhibitions\/edgar-degas-biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edgar Degas<\/a> led her to join the Impressionists and revisit her style.
