His work included likenesses of Eugene V. Debs, Marshal Ferdinand Foch, General John J. Pershing and General George Henry Thomas. He became a WPA artist and was on the committee for the Grant Monument Association, whose members placed the busts in the crypt of Grant&#8217;s Tomb.
