J<\/span>oining the Friends of the Museum<\/strong> is a terrific way to become engaged with the Bates Museum of Art and support its exhibitions, collection, and education program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Central to the cultural life of Bates, its surrounding communities, and the state of Maine, the museum is free and open to the public, presents over 100 public events a year, has over 19,000 in annual attendance, designs and delivers education programs for hundreds of area schoolchildren, exhibits, collects, and provides stewardship to art of global significance.<\/p>\n
