We are thrilled to announce that Jo\u00eblle Morris, an applied voice instructor at Bates College, has been appointed Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Music. Beginning in the Fall of 2019, she will teach courses such as Intro to Music, in addition to instructing practical musicianship labs. Jo\u00eblle will also conduct the Bates College Choir, a 25-voice ensemble which performs at least two large concerts per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Evian, France, Jo\u00eblle Morris is a singer, choral\nconductor, music educator and voice teacher living in central Maine.  Recognized for her warm mezzo voice and her ability to sparkle on\nstage, she is admired for her versatility – from the concert stage to the\noperatic arena, in intimate jazz settings and French cabaret, or simply sharing\nher gifts as voice teacher and coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jo\u00eblle has performed in an array of opera and musical theater shows, her favorite roles include Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier<\/em>, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, <\/em>Cherubino in La Nozze di Figaro<\/em>, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, <\/em>Aunt Eller in Oklahoma!<\/em> and Aldonza in Man of la Mancha <\/em>amongst others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An active recitalist, Jo\u00eblle has sung across the United States,\nFrance and Switzerland, most notably in such prestigious halls as La\nGrange-au-Lac in Evian-les-Bains, at Le Ch\u00e2teau de Ripaille in Thonon, the\nfestival La Belle \u00c9poque at Evian and at l\u2019Espace Maurice Novarina\nfeaturing her original production of \u201cPo\u00e8mes\nen Musique\u201d<\/em> a presentation of French composers and their inspiration\nof poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since relocating to Maine in 2011, Jo\u00eblle has appeared with the Bangor\nSymphony Orchestra, the Mozart Mentor Orchestra and is regularly a featured\nartist at Colby College, Bates College, Bowdoin College, the Franco Center,\nWaterville Opera House, Nordica Auditorium, the Colby Jazz Faculty Ensemble, King\u2019s\nChapel in Boston and the Early Music Festival in Portland. Her appreciation of\nchamber music as led her to be the co-founding member of the Amethyst Chamber\nEnsemble and the Resinosa Ensemble which specializes in\n21st century and commissioned works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An appreciation of Edith Piaf\u2019s repertoire has led to\nnumerous concerts featuring the grande dame of French chanson, most notably at\nthe 2014 World Acadian Congress in Madawaska, ME.   Since 2016, she has joined the Colby Faculty\nJazz Ensemble and was featured at Jazz at Lincoln Center in NY in 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to a busy\nconcert schedule in New England and annual summer appearances in France, Joelle is a member of NATS\n(National Association of Teachers of Singing) and is a frequent adjudicator for\nAll-State auditions and NATS competitions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
