Porters' Progress founder visits Bates College to describe work in Nepal

Ben Ayers, a 1999 Bates College graduate and founder of an organization that supports expeditionary porters in Nepal, brings a presentation about Porters' Progress to Bates at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Benjamin Mays center, 95 Russell St. Ayers' presentation is open to the public at no charge.

Professors and students to discuss globalization

A group of Bates students and faculty will present a panel discussion titled "Perspectives on Globalization," to be followed by a question-and-answer period, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Benjamin Mays Center, 95 Russell St. The public is invited to attend this event, sponsored by the Bates Democrats, the College Republicans, the Bates Libertarians and the campus Anti-Sweatshop Coalition, free of charge.
