Announcing the 25th annual Bates College summer book list

Going strong since 1997 as an annual gift for graduating seniors (and a delight for the rest of us), here's the 25th edition of the Good Reads list of book recommendations by Bates folks near and far.

The Bates campus shows off fall colors on the Historic Quad late in the afternoon on Oct. 15, 2019.Emma Soler '20 of Bethesda, Md., and Ian Rashleigh McNally '20 of Tiverton, R.I., say they "just got to have a break" as they found the light on the Quad and enjoyed some recreational reading before October Break. She was reading "The Namesake," a novel by Jhumpa Lahiri, he Guy Paulsen's memoir "Winterdance."

2007 Summer Reading List

Each spring, the College Store publishes a list of good summer reads suggested by members of the Bates community. In a new twist this year, submitters were also asked to suggest that one book they'd like to have with them if they were shipwrecked on a deserted, tropical island for several months. So, look for a few titles for desert-island reading in this, the 11th annual "Non-required Reading List, or Good Reads for Leisure Moments."
