(Phyllis Graber Jensen\/Bates College)<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Nathaniel Boone \u201952, P&#8217;82:\u00a0 Alumni Community Service Award<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/community-service-award\/\">citation for Boone\u2019s award<\/a> read, in part:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nate persevered in the face of prejudice, heeding the call to service, and helped to break the color barrier for future generations serving in the U.S. military. (Rene Roy for Bates College)<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Bates&#8217; Best Awards<\/h3>\n<p>Also during Back to Bates, the college presented Bates\u2019 Best awards to these volunteers &#8220;who express a passion and commitment for advancing the mission of the college&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/bates-best-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeanmarie Hester Cooper \u201985, P\u201919 and Colin Cooper P\u201919<\/a>,\u00a0 for making Bates &#8220;a philanthropic priority and modeling the importance of volunteerism for other Bates parents and alumni.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/bates-best-awards\/#hogan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael F.
