None. Fun? Von Ammon.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"swiper-lazy-preloader\"><\/div>\n\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Similar to a mystery dinner theater, in which diners join the sleuthing, the party version brings seasoned actors and newbies together\u00a0<strong>\u2014<\/strong> in this case, veteran Rob Players and first-years\u00a0<strong>\u2014<\/strong> for improvisational acting, storytelling, and creative problem-solving.<\/p>\n<p>The mystery theme on Wednesday was \u201cSet Sail for Disaster.&#8221; According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playingwithmurder.com\/set-sail-for-disaster-p-777.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nifty downloadable kit<\/a>, the scenario was a pleasure cruise where none of the guests expects &#8220;foul weather, the murder of the captain, or a sudden shipwreck on a deserted island in the uncharted Caribbean.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Julia Gutterman \u201920 of Mamaroneck, N.Y., is technical co-director of the Robinson Players, and she was the evening&#8217;s host.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best part was definitely watching everyone,&#8221; she says. &#8220;Everyone was having a really good time and having a lot of fun: totally being in it, and being silly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone went full out with costumes and getting into character,&#8221; adds Berger.<\/p>\n<p>As president of the Rob Players, founded in 1922, she hopes that events like Wednesday&#8217;s help sustain the college&#8217;s traditional and distinctively broad definition of &#8220;theater community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a welcoming community,&#8221; says Berger. &#8220;You can come in, be yourself, have fun, and do theater <strong>\u2014 <\/strong>any aspect of it, acting, directing, tech, stage management <strong>\u2014 <\/strong>with a minimal time commitment, but still following that passion you have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You don&#8217;t have to major in theater to be part of theater at Bates,&#8221; she adds. &#8220;You don&#8217;t have to do theater full time.
