They are traveling to\u00a0Winneconne, Wis., to compete Saturday against the nation&#8217;s best.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAlthough we run separate programs, we are totally invested in each other\u2019s program,\u201d men&#8217;s cross country head coach Al Fereshetian said. \u201cThis is what you want to happen \u2014 both teams to have success and have the chance to get out there and compete at nationals.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The teams share striking similarities. Both the women and the men entered New England Regionals ranked No. 24 in the country. They both finished in sixth place at regionals, and they both qualified for nationals this year after coming up just short last season.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bates College cross country&#039;s run to nationals\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FsV4SNYfY3s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEspecially after the result from last year, this year was just a whole different feeling,\u201d said women&#8217;s cross country captain Ayden Eickhoff \u201919 of Corvallis, Mont. \u201cAfter we found out the guys\u2019 team was going too, we knew it was just going to be more of a communal competition over there, and we\u2019re really excited about it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This marks the sixth time in program history the men have qualified for NCAAs and the fifth time for the women. This is the women&#8217;s team&#8217;s second trip to nationals in the last three years.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNationals is always hard,\u201d women&#8217;s cross country head coach Jay Hartshorn said. \u201dIf it doesn\u2019t feel hard, you\u2019re not working hard enough. You just have to prepare for how hard the experience is going to be and being really ready to put it all out there.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Different programs.
