(Theophil Syslo\/Bates College)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Performance:\u00a0<\/strong>Dancing to music from several Bollywood hits from recent years, including \u201cNaccde de Saare\u201d from <em>Baar Baar Dekho <\/em>and \u201cChogada\u201d from <em>Loveyatri.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Performers:\u00a0<\/strong>The Bollywood Dance Team<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they&#8217;re wearing:\u00a0<\/strong>The women wear lehengas; the men, kurtas.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s \u201cbright colors in your face,\u201d says Armaan Mecca \u201921 of Chennai, India. \u201cEvery time we do Sangai Asia Night, we try to embrace the culture, so that&#8217;s why the costumes are sparkly and bright. If you were dancing in India or going to a wedding, this is what you would wear.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dancing for Mom: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBack home, there is a lot of Bollywood dancing,\u201d says Mecca. \u201cI was never really a part of it much \u2014 my family members dance, but I just never really felt the need to dance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOnce I was here, and I saw that Bates celebrated Asian culture in such a way, I just knew that I had to be a part of it. The fact that it was Bollywood made it even more special for my family. At Sangai Asia, the crowd really encouraged me to keep dancing, to join the group 2BEATS, and finally, this year, to organize 2BEATS.
