At a time in a student’s life when there is a lot on their mind and many details to attend to — particularly with regard to the college application process — removing a step and that cost will be meaningful and have a direct impact. For prospective students within the QuestBridge process, there are no application fees, and Weisenburger said eliminating the application fee for all prospective Bates students, including those applying as transfer students, was a logical next step toward greater access.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1919" height="1279" src="https://www.bates.edu/news/files/2025/09/250801_Summer_Visit_Day_0061.webp" alt="Bates 2025 Summer Visit Day on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025.

At 11 a.m. students joined campus tours, including a walk up the Historic Quad and then a visit to the interior of the Peter J.
