In December, Beasley had curated the acclaimed <a href=\"http:\/\/home.bates.edu\/views\/2010\/01\/04\/beasley-biennale\/\">Ghetto Biennale<\/a> in Port-au-Prince. &#8220;I&#8217;m totally devastated,&#8221; Beasley tells the newspaper.\u00a0 &#8220;Haiti&#8217;s been the site of my research for the last three or four years.&#8221; Beasley was waiting to hear from friends; he had some information from Twitter but &#8220;I haven&#8217;t heard any voices,&#8221; he says. Eric Mathieu &#8217;12 of Westbury, N.Y., by Wednesday afternoon knew that his aunt,  uncle and cousins, who live outside the capital, had survived the quake.
