{"id":2174,"date":"2009-02-12T16:51:46","date_gmt":"2009-02-12T21:51:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/batesviews.net\/?p=2174"},"modified":"2024-07-01T16:39:50","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T20:39:50","slug":"senior-exhibition-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2009\/02\/12\/senior-exhibition-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Student prepares for annual Senior Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Studio art major Jessica Kase &#8217;09 of Chappaqua, N.Y., works in her Olin Arts studio on an oil painting that will be part of her senior thesis project, an exploration of the intimate nature of creating portraits of strangers.<\/p>\n<p>Since its dedication in 1986, the Bates College Museum of Art has maintained a special relationship with the college\u2019s Department of Art and Visual Culture. Part of this is a commitment to supporting the work of Bates students through the museum\u2019s annual Senior Exhibition. The exhibition highlights work selected from the thesis projects of graduating seniors majoring in Studio Art.<\/p>\n<p>Thesis projects vary from student to student, each pursuing an individual interest. The emphasis of the program is to create a cohesive body of related works through sustained studio practice and critical inquiry.
