{"id":23241,"date":"2001-11-28T09:08:57","date_gmt":"2001-11-28T13:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/home.bates.edu\/?p=23241"},"modified":"2023-11-27T11:11:45","modified_gmt":"2023-11-27T16:11:45","slug":"online-giving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2001\/11\/28\/online-giving\/","title":{"rendered":"Online giving comes to Bates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning Dec. 5, alumni, parents and friends may go online with their credit card to make gifts to the Bates Fund.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great option for donors as we head into the final month of the 2001 tax year,&#8221; said Kimberly Hokanson, director of annual giving. &#8220;Gifts can be made online using a secure server, which protects the donor&#8217;s privacy. It&#8217;s easy and it&#8217;s fast. People are used to the convenience of making purchases online &#8212; it\u2019s a logical step to offer online giving, as well.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After the system goes live Dec. 5, alumni, parents and friends will be able to make credit card donations at <a href=\"http:\/\/community.bates.edu\/s\/209\/index.aspx?sid=209&amp;pgid=551&amp;gid=1&amp;cid=1200&amp;ecid=1200\">https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/supporting-bates.xml<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Most of our peer schools offer online giving,&#8221; said Vicky Devlin, vice president for development. &#8220;Those schools have seen a significant increase in participation following the introduction of online giving &#8212; particularly among their most recent graduates.
