Twelve Bates College seniors will show their work in the annual Senior Exhibition, on view April 9 through May 30 at the Bates College Museum of Art. The exhibition opens with a reception at 7 p.m. Friday, April 9. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free for the reception and exhibition.<\/p>\n

Visitors will be treated to a broad range of media, including sculpture, painting, photography, ceramics, quilts and even art lamps. Photographer Jesse Field of Dresden, for example, uses the kinetic image to explore world-class skiing. Also included in the exhibition are small sculptures by Susan Arnold of East Falmouth, Mass.; furniture designed and built by Hillary Peakes of Dexter; quilts by Hannah Sessions of Middlebury, Vt.; and wax portrait busts by Joel Mahoney of Freeport.<\/p>\n
Mahoney and three of the featured artists, Arin Arbus of Los Angeles, Calif.; Gregory Berhnardt of Berwyn, Pa.; and Lindsay Homer of Jacksonville, Fla., were included in a recent juried exhibition at Maine Coast Artists Gallery in Rockland.<\/p>\n
“The Senior Exhibition is one of our perennial favorites,” said Anthony Shostak, education coordinator at the Bates College Museum of Art. “The work on view is selected from focused explorations of specific themes and media. Without fail, the diversity and freshness of the work attracts thousands of visitors.”<\/p>\n
