Orientation for the Class of 2008, Aug. 30-Sept. 10, included a little something for everyone. From moving belongings into residential halls, to baking gingerbread over a roasting campfire, from participating in a Zen retreat and outdoor service work on the coast of Maine to discussing (over a gourmet box lunch) Convocation speaker Paul Rogat Loeb’s Soul of a Citizen<\/em>, first-year students eased themselves into life as college students. Check out a few of their experiences, now among the very first Bates memories for these new students, in the accompanying slide show.<\/p>\n\t\n\t
