Briggs Distinguished Professor of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York City.\u00a0\u00a0Cone received his B.D. from Garrett Theological Seminary in 1961 and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University, in 1963 and 1965 respectively. His research and teaching are in Christian theology, with\u00a0a focus on black theology and the theologies of Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as 20th-century European-American theologies. His many books include The Spirituals and the Blues, For My People, God of the Oppressed, My Soul Looks Back <\/em>and Speaking the Truth.<\/em><\/p>\n 11:30 a.m. 11:40 a.m. Welcome by President Donald Harward
