Some Homecoming highlights:<\/p>\n<h2>Friday<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>At 7:30 pm, recent grad <a href=\"http:\/\/home.bates.edu\/views\/2010\/10\/27\/kaluba10-pfweekend\/\">Chomba Kaluba &#8217;10 explains his work<\/a> with a Zambian nonprofit organization that he founded and directs, in the Keck Classroom of Pettengill Hall<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At 8 p.m., the a cappella group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W2p9pPqPaVE\">Crosstones<\/a> celebrate the release of their CD <em>Lost and Found<\/em> in the Little Room of Chase Hall.<\/li>\n<li>Also at 8 p.m., in Chase Lounge, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Bates-Outing-Club\/172842966153\">Bates Outing Club holds its 90th anniversary<\/a> celebration finale. The program promises a photographic review of the year and a discussion of &#8220;activities and antics&#8221; of the BOC today, produced and presented by current students.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/100612_reunion_parade_8988.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-large alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/100612_reunion_parade_8988.jpg\" alt=\"100612_reunion_parade_8988\" width=\"590\" height=\"393\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Saturday<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>At 11 a.m., apropos of Halloween,\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/comminfo.rutgers.edu\/directory\/rmarchi\/index.html\">Regina Marchi &#8217;87<\/a>, author of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/rutgerspress.rutgers.edu\/acatalog\/Day_of_the_Dead_in_the_USA.html\">Day of the Dead in the USA<\/a><\/em>, explains the growing American popularity of the Mexican celebration <em>El D\u00eda de los Muertos<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>At halftime the f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/x222906.xml\">ootball game vs. Colby<\/a>, five recent grads will receive Senior Athletic Citations, among other awards. The College will salute its women&#8217;s soccer program, celebrating 30 years as a varsity team, and the 1956 football team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/x78888.xml\">Maine State Championship victors<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>At 4 p.m. in the Benjamin Mays Center, alumni share tips and strategies for LGBT job seekers and their allies. The topics of the program, hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/group.php?gid=91238331743\">Bates Alumni PRIDE<\/a> and<a href=\"http:\/\/abacus.bates.edu\/people\/orgs\/OUTfront\/\"> OUTFront,<\/a> will range from self-identifying on a resume, coming to prospective employers and ways the Bates LGBT alumni network can help student job-seekers.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/handerhan6160.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-large alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/handerhan6160.jpg\" alt=\"handerhan6160\" width=\"590\" height=\"393\" \/><\/a> Panelists will include Jason Hall \u201997, senior counsel to Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon who, in 2005,became <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bryancave.com\/newsevents\/news\/Detail.aspx?news=2491\">president of the first St. Louis gay lawyers&#8217; association<\/a>; Laura Kay Gagnon \u201988, manager of information services for the Maine Association of Non Profits; and Larry Handerhan \u201905, pursuing a master\u2019s in public affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy at Princeton University.<\/li>\n<li>At 5 p.m., by prior reservation, is the annual Alumni Celebration reception\u00a0and dinner. Many awards are on tap, including honors to Tanya Schwartz &#8217;04 (Distinguished Young Alumni Award),\u00a0James Houston \u201995 (David G. Russell \u201966 Alumni-in-Admissions Award) and Paul &#8220;Swede&#8221; Anderson \u201953 (Alumni Community Service Award).<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/anderson-53-9267.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-medium alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/anderson-53-9267-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"anderson-53-9267\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Swede&#8221; Anderson is a College Key member, longtime volunteer fundraiser and active in the Bates National Day of Service.
