Photograph by Phyllis Graber Jensen.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Chronicle of Higher Education<\/em> blogger Richard Kahlenberg, who writes about innovation in higher education, <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/blogs\/innovations\/college-equity-the-best-and-worst-in-2011\/31187\">names Clayton Spencer&#8217;s appointment <\/a>as the college&#8217;s eighth president a &#8220;best&#8221; moment for college equity in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Kahlenberg notes that Spencer helped launch Harvard\u2019s financial aid and low-income admission policy and worked as an education adviser to Sen.
