Koven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/tenure-promotions-koven\/koven_march-23-2011_\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55753\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-55753\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/07\/Koven_March-23-2011_-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/07\/Koven_March-23-2011_-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/07\/Koven_March-23-2011_-333x500.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/07\/Koven_March-23-2011_.jpg 778w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a> <\/strong><strong>Associate Professor of Psychology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Koven is one of six Bates faculty members who have received tenure appointments or promotions that will take effect Aug. 1, 2012.<em>\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2012\/06\/18\/tenure-promotions\/\">Read the story.<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em>She is a psychologist and neuroscientist whose research focus is the structure and function of areas of the brain involved in various cognitive and affective processes, specifically in individuals with severe mental illness such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Her recent publications include \u201cSpecificity of Emotional Awareness in Moral Decision-Making,\u201d in\u00a0<em>Emotion<\/em>\u00a0(2011) and \u201cNeuroprotective Effects of Vitamin D in Multiple Sclerosis,\u201d in\u00a0<em>Neuroscience and Medicine<\/em>\u00a0(2011), which she coauthored with Bates student Margaret Cadden &#8217;11.<\/p>\n<p>Koven has taught courses including cognitive neuroscience and clinical neuroscience. In 2011 she was the recipient of Bates&#8217; Ruth M. and Robert H.
