Greetings from the Math department. If you are taking your first math course with us, we have some suggestions.<\/p>\n

For those planning to take calculus, try our online self-placement exam<\/a> to determine whether you should start in Calculus I, II or later.<\/p>\n

Looking for a course to satisfy the Bates quantitative [Q] requirement? You might try MATH 101, Working With Data, or MATH 102, Mathematics Across the Sciences; there are also many [Q] courses in other departments.<\/p>\n

If you have additional placement questions, our Assistant in Instruction Eric Towne<\/a> specializes in helping students select the appropriate course levels. For questions about any courses or the math major or minor, please contact department chair Meredith Greer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Finally, please note that the Math and Statistics Workshop<\/a> is moving to a new location, on the ground floor of Ladd Library.<\/p>\n
