Pappas, 18, of Eliot, Maine, died this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with Troy\u2019s wishes, the family is pursuing the option to donate his organs.<\/p>\n<p>In her message, Spencer wrote, \u201cThis news is heartbreaking for Troy\u2019s family and for the Bates community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Troy died at 4:10 p.m., Oct. 5, six days after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2012\/10\/01\/student-injury\/\">fall<\/a> down a stairwell in Parker Hall on the Bates campus the night of Saturday, Sept. 29.
