The symposium comprises four discussions: a panel about how employers deal with difference in the workplace; a lunchtime session about connections between coursework and the workplace; a look at how theoretical concepts inform professional work; and a panel with Bates staff describing how they integrate discussions of difference into their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>To register for any or all of the sessions, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bit.ly\/Bates-Beyond\">please visit the website<\/a><\/strong>. For more information, please call Pickens at 207-753-6963.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kirknugent.com\/\">Nugent<\/a><\/strong>, an award-winning poet, is known for advancing the ideal that all individuals are united by the right to chase their dreams, and for challenging preconceived notions about success and self-actualization.<\/p>\n<p>Nugent started public speaking as a poet, in venues where he delivered incisive views about social and political issues with infectious wit and frenetic energy.
