The eighth annual F.A.B. Winter Dance Showcase, featuring artists from Lewiston-Auburn, elsewhere in Maine and beyond, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.<\/p>\n

Admission is $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and students, available through the FAHC<\/a><\/strong> or by calling 207-689-2000.<\/p>\n

Named for the community partners presenting the showcase — the F<\/strong><\/span>ranco-A<\/strong><\/span>merican center and B<\/strong><\/span>ates College — F.A.B. brings the Maine community together through dance. A variety of dance genres come together in a memorable evening filled with beauty, tenderness, humor, innovation and familiar forms.<\/p>\n

Choreographers from across Maine and New England, including Bates students and faculty, Colby College students, and choreographers from New Hampshire and Connecticut College, will present work.<\/p>\n

From Bates, F.A.B. dance artists are Rachel Boggia, assistant professor of dance, and three dance majors: juniors Bridgette Chandhoke of Fairfax, Va., and Leroy Barnes of Woodbridge, Va.; and sophomore Isaiah Rice of Dallas.<\/p>\n

Other Maine artists on the program come from Androscoggin Dance, the professional training program at the Dance Center in Auburn; the Maine Dance Project; Shove Gently Dance; Indiedanceworks; Tim Rice and Debi Irons; and Range of Motion Arts.<\/p>\n

Kira Gavin, a member of the Bates class of 2012, has choreographed a large project for Androscoggin Dance based on the elements, and the F.A.B. program includes “Water” from that project. Gavin has also created a tap piece with dancers from the school.<\/p>\n

Coming from Colby College is dance major Delaney McDonough.<\/p>\n

New Hampshire choreographer-dancers Patricia Harms and Christine Simes are familiar members of the F.A.B. program. And Shawn Hove of Connecticut College is a regular on the Bates Dance Festival videography and documentation team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
