Photograph by Michael Pasek &#8217;12.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With the return to Lewiston and Auburn of greener scenery and warmer temperatures, Bates students have organized the return of College Night in Town\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Created last year in collaboration with the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, the event was envisioned as an annual opportunity to acquaint all area college students with the many attractive dining, shopping and entertainment options available\u00a0in\u00a0their backyard. The debut last May drew substantial participation and appreciation by students and businesses. A fall followup last October was also successful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal of this spring\u2019s event is to support the\u00a0town\u00a0and the local economy while showcasing some of the best musicians and artists that Bates has to offer,\u201d said Meg Murphy, a Bates senior who leads the organizing group. \u201cWe want to strengthen the relationship between the\u00a0town\u00a0and the college through introductions, interaction and financial incentives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While most activities will take place\u00a0in\u00a0the evening, there will also be associated daytime events\u00a0in\u00a0Kennedy Park\u00a0in\u00a0downtown Lewiston. Starting at 2 p.m.,The Bates Outing Club and the Bates Slackline Club will demonstrate slacklining (a form of rope-walking)\u00a0in\u00a0the park, and the Bates Shred Club (an organization for skateboarders) will host a Shred Sesh<b>\u00a0<\/b>at the Skate Park. Additionally, Sidewalk chalk will be available for public use up and down Lisbon Street.<\/p>\n<p>Evening events get under way at 5 p.m. The schedule includes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Free musical performances, open to the public,\u00a0in\u00a0both Lewiston and Auburn. Lewiston venues include Chopsticks Restaurant, the Lyceum Gallery, Pedro O&#8217;Hara&#8217;s, She Doesn&#8217;t Like Guthrie&#8217;s and the Lamey Wellehan Building on Lisbon Street. Lamey Wellehan will also display student artwork, for sale by the individual artists. Auburn venues include Gritty McDuff&#8217;s and Naral&#8217;s Experience Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0From 5 \u2013 8 p.m., for those with proper identification proving they are 21 or older<a name=\"13e568d7ad160a01_13e563c2fab6a56c_13e562cc2d62eabe_13e562ac2d7ea520_13e5627c4a6dde05_13e5616e4715bc74__GoBack\"><\/a>, a free wine tasting at The Vault and discounted craft beer on tap at Baxter Brewing Co., both\u00a0in\u00a0Lewiston.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Discounts at participating businesses and restaurants\u00a0in\u00a0the Lewiston and Auburn downtown areas for students with current, valid student identification cards.
