Linday Cullen ’13 is the newly appointed assistant coach of women’s cross country and track and field at Dickinson College.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Newburyport (Mass.) Daily News<\/em> explores the coaching aspirations of former Bates runner Lindsay Cullen ’13, who begins her coaching career in August at Dickinson College as an assistant with the cross country and track programs.<\/p>\n

She tells Daily News<\/em> sports editor Dan Guttenplan that “I like the way most Division III schools mix athletics and academics. It\u2019s not an athlete\u2019s entire life, like it might be at a state school or university.”<\/p>\n

As graduate of Newburyport High School, Cullen majored in history at Bates and captained the cross country and track and field teams her senior year.<\/p>\n

Jay Hartshorn, head coach of both programs at Bates, says that Cullen has a “really good understanding of team dynamics, how the events fit together, how teams fit together. She\u2019s able to look outside herself and her own performance and see what makes the whole team work.”<\/p>\n
