Faith Ringgold’s “Jazz Stories: Mama Can Sing, Papa Can Blow #4” (2004) is on display in\u00a0Convergence: Jazz, Films and the Visual Arts<\/em>.<\/p><\/div>\n

The exhibitions Convergence: Jazz, Films and the Visual Arts<\/em>\u00a0 and Encountering Maine<\/em>\u00a0 open at the Museum of Art with a reception at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7.<\/p>\n

Convergence<\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>an exploration of African American culture and interactions among the arts,\u00a0<\/span>will be accompanied by public programs and events beginning in September, including lectures, a panel discussion, live jazz and weekly jazz film screenings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Artists include Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, David C. Driskell, Wadsworth A. Jarrell, Cynthia Litwer, Faith Ringgold, Soni\u00e9 Joi Ruffin-Thompson and William T. Williams, among others. <\/span>This exhibition\u00a0<\/span>will be on display at the Museum of Art through Dec. 13.<\/span><\/p>\n
