On consecutive October evenings, Bates presents a dynamic contemporary music ensemble and a jazz pianist whom The New York Times<\/em> likened to the great Oscar Peterson.<\/p>\n

With its performers dispersed throughout the Olin Arts Center at Bates, New York City’s Metropolis Ensemble presents the innovative site-specific piece “Brownstone” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.<\/p>\n

Metropolis Ensemble is the focus of additional public events in Lewiston during its Bates residency. Cyr and Metropolis musicians host two events at Bates on Saturday, Oct. 4: a music and technology workshop at 10 a.m. and an arts and entrepreneurship panel discussion at 12:30 p.m., both in the concert hall.<\/p>\n
