For more information, please contact 207-786-6135 or <a href=\"mailto:olinarts@bates.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">olinarts@bates.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program includes music composed by Boardman and recorded by the pair for his recent release <em>Trip to Benton<\/em>, as well as other originals, dance tunes and airs. In addition to fiddle and piano, Pearlman and Boardman will sing and play guitar and mandolin.<\/p>\n<p>Boardman has fiddled throughout Maine and beyond since the early 1970s, learning from such Maine music legends as Otto Soper, Simon St. Pierre, Leo Murphy, Alfred Parent, Lucien Matthieu, Ben Guillemette and Don Roy.<\/p>\n<p>He has performed solo and with a wide variety of bands, including the Northern Valley Boys, Kennebec Valley Boys, Maine Country Dance Orchestra, Old Grey Goose, Boardman and Sons, the Gawler Family, Michael Parent and Jessie Boardman.<\/p>\n<p>Dedicated to keeping Maine&#8217;s traditional dance music alive, Boardman is a co-founder of the East Benton Fiddlers&#8217; Convention and the Maine Country Dance Fiddle Workshop, and is the founder of the Maine Fiddle Camp. <em>Trip to Benton<\/em> is the latest of his several recordings.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_97042\" style=\"width: 910px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97042\" class=\"size-large wp-image-97042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO-900x600.jpg\" alt=\"Neil Pearlman is a pianist known for his versatility.\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/files\/2015\/09\/Neil-Pearlman-LO.jpg 1619w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-97042\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Neil Pearlman is a pianist known for his versatility.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pianist and mandolinist Pearlman is rapidly distinguishing himself as a uniquely innovative artist in traditional music. Called \u201ca force to be reckoned with\u201d by WGBH\u2019s Brian O\u2019Donovan, he is recognized in Celtic music circles for his distinctive approach to the piano.
