{"id":99897,"date":"2016-03-11T12:04:04","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T17:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/?p=99897"},"modified":"2016-07-01T11:13:43","modified_gmt":"2016-07-01T15:13:43","slug":"video-life-of-allie-freed-16-through-classmates-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2016\/03\/11\/video-life-of-allie-freed-16-through-classmates-lens\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: One student&#8217;s Bates life through the eyes and lens of a classmate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eighteenth-century writer Samuel Johnson had James Boswell as his tagalong chronicler.<\/p>\n<p>Bates theater and English major Allie Freed \u201916 has classmate Dylan Ray.<\/p>\n<p>Video camera in hand, Ray followed Freed for a few weeks recently and produced a short film of her academic and work life at Bates for the college&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/greatday\/\">Great Day to Be a Bobcat<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Great Day to be a Bobcat - Allie Freed\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/158108694?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Ray, a biological chemistry major from Denver, jokes that he\u2019s \u201cspent most of college my career locked away in the labs of Dana and Carnegie\u201d so the project illuminated a \u201ccompletely different side of Bates.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt reminds me that Bates students are so versatile and multitalented.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Freed, from Gloucester, Mass., and Ray are co-workers in the Advancement Office, though she \u201chad no idea that Dylan was such a gifted filmmaker.\u201d Her takeaway? \u201cIt reminds me that Bates students are so versatile and multitalented.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRefreshing\u201d is what Ray says about the experience.
