LGBTQ+ Active Ally Program

The LGBTQ+ Active Ally Program is an opportunity for all Bates students, faculty and staff to participate in workshops where they will explore various identities and experiences of queer communities and how they can best support Bates members of the LGBTQ+ community.

LGBTQ+ Active Allies aim to create an impactful and supportive Bates community by engaging in active conversations that address bias, misconceptions around LGBTQ+ identities, as well as doing the work to expand in their knowledge and understanding of queer communities at Bates and beyond.

Trainings are open to all students, staff, and faculty.

LGBTQ+ Active Ally Workshops are formal and interactive workshops providing awareness, education, skills, and forms of actions individuals can consider to create and maintain a warm and welcoming campus environment. As of 2024, LGBTQ+ Active Ally workshops will be facilitated in partnership by the Office of Intercultural Education (OIE) and the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI). Workshops will be tailored to the needs of the audience, where workshops will be offered for students and others will be offered for faculty/staff.

Workshops are encouraged for all students, faculty and staff, but know that participation is voluntary.
